MZKT to Supply Chassis for Missile Systems to Russian Defense Company
The Minsk Wheel Tractor Plant (MZKT) has signed a contract with the Moscow-based company "Defense Systems". The Russian customer is to receive 30 special automotive platforms, on which anti-aircraft missiles, radars, and command posts can be mounted. Deliveries are scheduled until 2029.
The association of former security forces BELPOL obtained documents regarding a new contract between the Minsk Wheel Tractor Plant and the Russian enterprise "Defense Systems", which operates in the defense industry.
According to the published data, MZKT is to supply the Russian company with 30 chassis:
- 20 units of MZKT-8021-021;
- five MZKT-8022-021;
- five MZKT-80211-021.
A chassis is a special heavy vehicle without installed combat equipment. On such a platform, the customer can install a missile launcher, a radar station, a control post, or other military equipment.
The manufacturer's own website states that chassis of the 8021 family are used for deploying launchers, radars, and command posts for the Pechora-2M anti-aircraft missile system. This is a modernized version of the Soviet S-125 system, designed to destroy aircraft, cruise missiles, and other aerial targets.
BELPOL draws attention to the contract term. Deliveries until 2029 mean that this is not a one-time batch, but rather cooperation planned for several years.
MZKT is under sanctions by the European Union, USA, Great Britain, Canada, Ukraine, and a number of other countries. Restrictions were imposed, in part, due to the enterprise's cooperation with the Russian military-industrial complex and the use of Belarusian chassis in missile systems.
