11-year-old girl took 45 thousand rubles from home to 'save' her mom
The girl believed a stranger who introduced himself as an employee of the financial police and stated that her mother was facing a criminal case, and the money needed to be urgently handed over to a courier.
In early October, police officers came to a 49-year-old Minsk resident and informed her that she had become a victim of fraud: 45 thousand rubles had been stolen from her. According to the woman, she checked the hiding place and found that the savings were gone. At that moment, her 11-year-old daughter confessed that she had given the money to strangers.
An unknown person contacted the child via messenger. He introduced himself as an employee of the financial police and stated that the girl's mother was suspected of committing a crime. The only way to help her was to immediately hand over all the money to a courier. The schoolgirl followed the instructions, unaware that she was handing over money to criminals.
The courier was a 19-year-old student who was also deceived by the scammers. The day before, an 'employee of BelDIE' contacted him and informed him that fraudsters were acting on his behalf: allegedly, they had gained access to his data, opened an account, and were trying to transfer money abroad.
After this, a fake law enforcement officer joined the conversation. He warned the Minsk resident that a fraud case would be transferred to the Investigative Committee and, to prove his innocence, the guy needed to declare his available finances.
When it turned out that the student had no money, he was given a 'special task': to go to the address given by the curator, pick up the money there, after which to go to Moscow and hand them over to a person near the metro entrance, using a code word.
After fulfilling the requirements, the young man decided to check the information online and read that, most likely, he had become a participant in a fraudulent scheme. After that, he contacted the police.
