Moscow Woman Tells How She and Her Fiancé Nearly Died in an Accident on the Way to Their Wedding at an Estate Near Logoisk
On the afternoon of June 13, Muscovite Olga, along with her husband, his brother, and her father, was driving to an estate to celebrate their wedding. But the guests at the festive table never waited for the main characters of the evening: everything was stopped by a BMW driver who was speeding towards them at 130 kilometers per hour.

Horrific photos of that accident spread across all media and social networks. Someone in the comments even mentioned a blood-stained bride in a wedding dress next to the wrecked cars.
Olga herself only found the strength four months later to tell what happened in threads.
The wedding was planned in a knightly fantasy style — with a wizard who would tell riddles to guests, with axe throwing, archery, forging a horseshoe for luck…

The groom and bride could not wait for the celebration. The excellent mood was only overshadowed by the anticipated heavy rain on the wedding day — the lovers worried that due to the bad weather, most of the planned outdoor activities would have to be canceled and they would have to sit under a canopy.
But Olga cast away her anxiety — after all, a grand celebration was ahead.
“On the morning of June 13, sitting in the makeup artist's chair, I chatted with her about the story of meeting my husband, about love, about work, and about how to weather storms and stay afloat… I stepped outside already in my wedding dress. My husband closed his eyes, and then tried not to look as I walked to the car — we decided to stick to traditions and not see each other until the wedding.”
Guests were waiting for the newlyweds at the estate near Logoisk. The groom's brother got behind the wheel of the Audi, the groom himself chose the passenger seat, and the bride with her father sat in the back seats. Fortunately, they all fastened their seatbelts — as per the rules.
Official reports later reported on the accident: at the 21st kilometer of the M-3 "Minsk-Vitebsk" road, a 41-year-old BMW driver drove into the oncoming lane and collided with an Audi.

Olga is the only one who remembers the moment of the accident itself. She says she was calmly looking at the nature outside the window when she suddenly heard swearing. She shifted her gaze to the windshield and saw a car spinning in their lane. It all lasted no more than a few seconds. She only managed to think: “Now it’s going to hurt.”
According to the woman, that driver was driving someone else's BMW on worn tires, speeding down the highway towards Minsk at over 130 kilometers per hour in a downpour. He lost control, and the car skidded into the oncoming lane. A head-on collision occurred. The BMW driver died on the spot. Those in the Audi were saved by airbags.

“Screech, impact, and then pain. White circles before my eyes, I couldn’t see anything. Something was wrong with my nose. Knocked out teeth. And a leg turned inward. Sharp pain in my knee. I tried to get out, tugged at the doors — they wouldn't budge. I called out to my dad, my husband, who were crumpled in unbelievable positions — they didn't answer.”
Her husband's brother helped Olga get out of the car, saying — we need to go.
“I stood on one bare foot in a wedding dress on the wet asphalt, leaning against the car door. And in these moments, the cursed rain stopped. A car drove past on the grass right in front of me. Blood gushed from my broken nose onto the hem of my wedding dress, and I constantly wiped it with my torn sleeve. Circles flashed before my eyes.”
The woman tried to straighten her leg — it didn't work. At that moment, she heard her dad's voice from the back seat. A weight lifted from her heart. She asked about her husband — he was alive, moving, had moved to the back seat and lay down.
When the ambulance arrived, Olga even tried to joke with the grim paramedics — she says she really wanted to talk to someone, anyone.
“The paramedic with scissors in her hands and tears in her eyes cut the cream wedding dress. The department was buzzing. Probably everyone knew that ‘a wedding had been brought in.’ Every new medical worker asked about what happened. In the first week, I repeated this story a huge number of times, and new details were added every day. The health condition of everyone in the car, the details of the accident, doctors' prognoses, medical nuances…”
As a result of the accident, Olga's father and her husband's brother were the least injured — they had broken noses and arms. The woman had a comminuted fracture-dislocation of the left hip joint, the most severe variant according to fracture classification, the most unfortunate one. But her husband suffered more than the others — a ruptured peritoneum, blood in the abdominal cavity, a fractured vertebra in the lumbar region. It was fortunate that he was brought in quickly and immediately operated on.
Olga considers her experience at the first hospital unsuccessful. After the leg operation, she was told to buy a rigid hip orthosis — it had to be ordered from Russia and waited a week for delivery. And an hour before the planned discharge, an X-ray showed that the situation had worsened compared to before the correction.
Doctors held a consultation. Olga describes it this way:
“The head of the department, the attending physician, a bunch of interns stood around the couch. ‘You know, no miracle happened. We haven't helped you, and we are happy not to operate on you, because everything went crooked and awry from the start, nothing will be normal anymore. It also won't be possible to save your joint, so you only have one path — prosthetic replacement. We can quickly arrange it for you and perform the operation in a couple of days. Or go to Russia, and there they will do the operation for free, because it's expensive here.’”
As a result, they had to look for another hospital in Belarus that agreed to take on the complex case. Doctors were able to perform a simultaneous operation — simultaneous intervention on different organs (under one anesthesia, they replaced the hip joint and set the broken nose).
In total, Olga spent about a month and a half in hospitals. In addition to treatment, she also had to go through interrogations and forensic medical examination; she watched the dashcam video three times.
Now Olga's father and her husband's brother have almost recovered. The woman and her husband will likely still have operations.
“In addition, I also have PTSD treatment: the white circles haven't gone away, I flinch in the car. Long-term rehabilitation isn't just going for physio procedures and forgetting about it. Now one of my legs is shorter than the other, and that's a host of new problems. My leg doesn't bend completely because of the knee. My husband can't sit for long, he can't lift heavy things.”
But Olga doesn't lose optimism and jokes that she is now "one leg in cyberpunk."
