Putin proposed a summit with Trump and Xi to discuss the war in Ukraine
Trump has not yet agreed, but may view the idea positively.

Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed a trilateral summit next month with US President Donald Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping to agree on ending the war in Ukraine on terms favorable to Moscow. The Wall Street Journal writes about this, citing its sources.
According to a former Russian intelligence officer, Putin put forward this idea during a phone conversation with Trump on October 9, when an agreement was reached on the US purchasing Russian diesel fuel and facilitating its sale on the global market.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov also confirmed that negotiations are underway regarding a possible meeting.
«There is still no clear understanding regarding the meeting itself or its potential agenda, although all three sides recognize the hypothetical possibility of such a meeting,» he told The Wall Street Journal.
A senior American official stated that Trump has not agreed to such a summit. However, according to the official, the president may view the idea positively, given his desire to fulfill his election promise to resolve the war.
The Kremlin proposed holding trilateral talks on the sidelines of the upcoming Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit, which will take place on November 18 and 19 in Shenzhen, China.
As the WSJ notes, potential trilateral talks on Chinese soil would be a significant step for Xi in his efforts to strengthen China's role as an influential diplomatic mediator.
