A woman from Smarhon district helped return a four-year-old boy to his parents
Her children said: "Mom, you are a hero!"

On Mother's Day, October 14, Alena Bolzan was returning home from Smarhon to her village, and two kilometers from the district center, she saw an unfamiliar little boy. He was walking alone towards the suburban villages, reports the Hrodna police via BelTA
"I was driving with my daughter from dance classes. After leaving the city, I saw a small child on the roadside. I stopped and turned on the emergency lights. But the little one quickly walked further," Alena recalls. "I realized he was completely alone. I became scared for him."
The woman spoke to the child. He said his name was Timur, he was four years old, and he was going "home to dad," but he could not name his address, surname, or his parents' workplace. To all questions, he answered: "I don't know."
"He refused to get into the car, he just stood there and hugged me. And only when I started calling the police, the boy cried," Alena continued her story.
After calling her husband and emergency services, the woman called the police. Nine minutes later, a report was received on line 102 from the child's mother, who had lost her son near one of the shopping centers in Smarhon.
The head of the Smarhon District Department of Internal Affairs, Dzmitry Misyuk, emphasized: it is difficult to say what could have happened to the child if an attentive woman had not noticed him on the road and stopped. On behalf of the Smarhon police, he thanked Alena for her attentiveness, responsiveness, and readiness to help, presenting her with an appreciation award and a bonus.
"My children, when they found out about it, said: 'Mom, you are a hero!'" — Alena Bolzan said with a smile.
