The artist and educator celebrated a milestone on January 31st.

"He is a Belarusian, he is an artist, he is a patriot. And he does it calmly, without any sensationalism, but firmly establishes our identity in the artistic space, and thus, in eternity," wrote Ryhor Sitnitsa about him.
Born in Orsha in 1946, Kupava studied at the Minsk Art College and graduated from the graphic arts department of the Belarusian State Theater and Art Institute. He was a participant of "Belarusian Workshop", deputy director of Hlebov College, and taught at the Architectural Faculty of BNTU.
He designed three dozen books and albums. Everyone knows his works — and especially the standards of Belarusian state symbols, which he created together with artists Yauhen Kulik, Uladzimir Krukovski, Liavon Bartlaŭ, and Leu Talbuzin.
At 80 years old, Mikola Kupava continues to be an example of fidelity to his ideals.
