Siarhei Franchuk has been released – he is the cousin of Vadim Kabanchuk, a representative of the Joint Transitional Cabinet for defense, and former deputy commander of the Kastus Kalinouski Regiment, writes Dissidentby.

Siarhei was detained on August 9, 2022. On that day, five riot police officers from Minsk broke into his apartment, hit him on the head with a pistol, and arrested him.
On April 28, 2023, the man was sentenced to 3 years in prison, and in July, a new case was initiated, adding another six months to his sentence.
On January 10, 2025, another trial took place under a new article, resulting in an additional six months being added to his term.
Siarhei fully served his term and was released on January 20, 2026. He has already left Belarus and is safe.
