The Ministry of Defense explained why people are being called up suddenly for military training
Lieutenant Colonel Natalia Havrusik, the official representative of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Belarus, answered in the official Telegram channel to the question of why summonses for military training are now being issued almost on the eve of appearing at the military commissariat.

According to the military official, this practice is primarily related to sudden combat readiness checks. Their main goal is to assess the real state of the troops and the readiness of citizens to defend the country. Therefore, plans are not announced in advance, and the notification period can be minimal — sometimes less than 24 hours.
The ministry notes that it is important to check how quickly those liable for military service can arrive at the military commissariat, and how promptly military units can be replenished. If people are warned in advance, such a check will not be objective.
Thus, receiving a summons directly before the appearance date is not called an organizational error, but a planned element of combat readiness verification.
In addition, Natalia Havrusik notes that during military training, the average salary is retained for those liable for military service, or monetary compensation is provided — depending on the employer's form of ownership. This rule also applies to unemployed citizens.
It was previously reported that another stage of combat readiness checks for the Belarusian army began on February 16. Now, those liable for military service are also being sent to units. The number of people and the duration are unknown — the Ministry of Defense does not publicly report this. The way people are being called up for training causes outrage, which Belarusians are massively sharing on social networks.
