For the municipal elections in Hesse on March 15, Frankfurt has prepared a record ballot paper: its width is 1.44 meters, and its length is 60 centimeters. The list includes 1120 candidates from 22 parties.

About 516 thousand voters will be able to cast up to 93 votes, according to the number of seats in the city parliament, writes Bild.
Counting the votes will be a challenging task: according to city authorities, about 7000 volunteers will work on it for up to 12 days. The ballot paper itself is larger than a standard voting booth, so voters are advised to fold it "origami style" to make it easier to mark their choices.
The size is explained not only by the number of parties but also by equality requirements: due to long surnames, including double surnames and those with noble titles, all lines must be of the same width.
As a result, the ballot paper became 20 centimeters wider than in the 2021 elections.
