Investigative Committee revealed details about the attack by Russian youths on a family in Smalyavichy district
Last week, it became known that in Smalyavichy district, three young people from Russia broke into a house at night with bats and pistols. Details of the high-profile case were revealed on "Radio-Minsk" by the official representative of the Investigative Committee, Aliaksandr Sukhadolski, as reported by Minsk-Novosti agency.

The incident occurred on the night of February 16 in the agro-town of Budagova, Smalyavichy district. The victims chosen were the 63-year-old owner of the house, his 65-year-old wife, and his 67-year-old brother.
The attackers were two 18-year-old residents of Kstovo, Nizhny Novgorod region, and a 17-year-old teenager from Nizhny Novgorod.
As the investigation revealed, the previously unconvicted young people, who were unemployed, received an order for violent actions via Telegram. An unknown employer promised them 300 thousand Russian rubles (about 3900 dollars) for this audacious "job". The mercenaries were required to go to the given address, severely beat the residents (to the point of fractures), and record everything on video.

On the eve of the attack, the three youths arrived in Minsk, where they rented an apartment and a car through carsharing. Around half past four in the morning, wearing balaclavas, they entered the territory of the house on Solnechnaya Street in Budagova.
The owner of the house heard a dog barking and looked out the window. Noticing the uninvited guests, he managed to press the alarm button of the Ministry of Internal Affairs' Security Department. Realizing they had been discovered, the attackers broke the window and burst inside. Threatening with pneumatic pistols, which they presented as firearms, the criminals began to beat the elderly people with their hands, feet, and a baseball bat.
However, they were not allowed to finish what they started. The alarm signal worked instantly: police officers were at the scene within seven minutes. Two patrols from the Security Department blocked the house and apprehended two of the attackers. The third tried to escape with a pistol but was also apprehended in the Smalyavichy district.
As a result of the attack, all three residents sustained injuries. The most significant harm was inflicted on the woman — she suffered an open fracture of the shoulder. The men sustained bruises and wounds. At the scene, investigators found a whole arsenal: two pneumatic pistols, a bat, two knives, a gas canister, a belt with brass knuckles, and other material evidence.

A criminal case has been initiated against the detainees under the article "Attempted infliction of grievous bodily harm by a group of persons for hire" (Part 1, Art. 14, Pts. 6 and 9, Part 2, Art. 147 of the Criminal Code). The article's sanction provides for up to 10 years of imprisonment. All three have been taken into custody. Investigators are establishing the identity of the client and the motives for the crime.
