The Kremlin speaker called the occupation of part of Ukrainian territory "guaranteeing the security of people who lived and live in Eastern Ukraine." This, according to him, was the main goal of the war started by Russia.
"But the goals (of Russia's war against Ukraine) have not been fully achieved, which is why the Special Military Operation continues," he said.
Peskov also stated that Russia allegedly maintains its openness to achieving its goals "by political and diplomatic means."
"Is there still hope that the conflict can be ended through negotiations? This hope has not left us from the very beginning... Our position is well understood, consistent. Now everything depends on the actions of the Kyiv regime," said the Kremlin speaker.
"Russia will move further," Peskov said.
