Jordan was named Best Actor for his role in the vampire horror film "Sinners", which also won the evening's top prize — for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture.
Among other "Actor Awards" winners were Sean Penn for "One Battle After Another" and Jessie Buckley for "Hamnet", as well as an unexpected victory in the "Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role" category for Amy Madigan in "Weapons" and a posthumous award for Catherine O'Hara in "Studio".
'I don't even know where to begin, I totally didn't expect this,' said Michael B. Jordan in his speech, adding that it was a 'great honor and privilege' for him to be nominated.

Jessie Buckley, star of the film "Hamnet", stated that it was a great honor for her to win the award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role, a category she had dominated throughout the season.
Accepting the award, the Irish actress expressed gratitude to her film colleague Emily Watson, who applauded Buckley from the audience.
'I will cherish for the rest of my days the opportunity to act with you in the film "Hamnet",' said Buckley, addressing Watson. 'Your grand imagination, your bold, free femininity, your fierce tenderness – all of it serves as a guiding star for me.'
Harrison Ford — Lifetime Achievement Award
Harrison Ford received the "Lifetime Achievement Award" for his sixty-year career, during which he starred in films such as "Star Wars", "The Fugitive", "Indiana Jones", and "Blade Runner".
'It's a bit strange to receive a lifetime achievement award in the middle of my career,' joked the 83-year-old actor. 'A bit early, isn't it?'
He continued: 'The opportunity to present to the audience what we create together is an honor and a privilege. And thanks to this privilege, I have come to know myself.
It's a tough business to get into. In my case, it's a tough business to get out of, thank God, because I love what I do.'
"Sinners"
Taking place late in the awards season, the "Actor Awards" are decided by the votes of other actors and can provide valuable insight into the evolving dynamics.
The film "Sinners" is nominated for 16 Oscars, a record number for any film in the history of the Academy Awards.
The film is set in the 1930s in the Mississippi Delta and tells the story of two twin brothers (both played by Jordan) who hope to open a new music club, but their plans are thwarted by evil forces.
The film is a strong contender for Best Picture at the Oscars, but it will have to compete with "One Battle After Another", which has won top prizes at other events such as the Golden Globes and the BAFTA Film Awards.
The Academy Awards will take place on March 15.
