The Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Jarida reported that 56-year-old Mojtaba Khamenei, who allegedly sustained injuries, was transported to Moscow for treatment.
The Kremlin refused to comment on this information. Now, the ambassador to Russia has issued a denial.
“Today's news about the transfer of the Supreme Leader of the Revolution to Russia for treatment is a new psychological war. Iranian leaders do not need to flee and hide in shelters; their place is on the streets among the people,” said the Iranian diplomat.
Despite the leader's absence from public view, official Tehran insists that the situation is under control. Iran's Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, assured that Mojtaba Khamenei is "in good health" and fully in charge of state processes.
The text of Khamenei's first address to the people on March 12 was read by an announcer on Iranian state television.
