Thus, the celebrity will avoid court proceedings in a new case related to sexualized violence, writes the BBC.
34-year-old actor Ruairi Cannon and two other men, whose names have not been disclosed, previously filed civil lawsuits in the High Court of London. They claimed that Spacey subjected them to sexualized violence between 2000 and 2015.
The 66-year-old actor denied the accusations against him.
Judge Christina Lambert ruled at a November hearing that the cases should be preliminarily heard in October of this year.
However, on March 13, the court proceedings were suspended because the parties "agreed to the terms of settlement set out in a confidential schedule," according to a court order published on March 19 by the Press Association. The details of the agreement between Spacey and the plaintiffs have not been disclosed.
What did the plaintiffs accuse Spacey of?
The name of one of the plaintiffs is known: 34-year-old actor Ruairi Cannon. In 2013, he performed in a play based on Tennessee Williams' "Sweet Bird of Youth" at London's Old Vic Theatre, when Spacey was the theatre's artistic director.
According to Cannon, Spacey accosted him at a party after the play's premiere.
Another plaintiff, whose name has not been disclosed, claimed that Spacey subjected him to violence about 12 times between 2000 and 2005.
A third plaintiff, whose name also remains undisclosed, said he met Spacey at a master class at London's Old Vic Theatre. According to him, the consequences of the sexualized violence he experienced in 2008 were severe: he was diagnosed with psychological trauma and was forced to spend a significant sum on treatment.
At a hearing in mid-March, the plaintiffs' lawyers stated that the court should hear testimony from seven other witnesses to Spacey's alleged indecent behavior.
It also became known at this hearing that Cannon had reached an agreement with the Old Vic Theatre, where Spacey served as artistic director from 2004 to 2015.
Not a Single Conviction
In 2017, it became known that the management of the Old Vic Theatre received 20 complaints from its current and former employees regarding Kevin Spacey's alleged indecent behavior. All complainants were men.
Over the past 10 years, numerous lawsuits have been filed against Spacey with accusations of sexualized violence and harassment, but so far the actor has not received a single conviction.
In July 2023, a jury in a London court found Kevin Spacey not guilty of sexual harassment. The court acquitted the actor on nine counts of charges related to harassment against four men.
The actor maintained that all interactions between him and the accusers were consensual and involved no violence.
The London trial was the third case against Kevin Spacey to reach court. He also won the first two.
In October 2022, Kevin Spacey also won a lawsuit in New York regarding a sexual harassment claim filed by fellow actor Anthony Rapp.
The jury ruled that Rapp was unable to prove his claims of harassment by the Hollywood star.
In the summer of 2019, a case was heard in a Massachusetts state court regarding the actor's sexual harassment of an 18-year-old boy on Nantucket Island in 2016.
The young man, who turned out to be the son of famous TV presenter Heather Unruh, claimed that Spacey accosted him in a restaurant after allegedly getting him drunk.
However, the case fell apart when the defense proved numerous violations committed by the prosecution, including the manipulation of evidence.
In July 2019, the Massachusetts Prosecutor's Office dropped all charges against the actor.
The actor himself asserts that all accusations against him are part of a smear campaign that began in 2017 and effectively ended his successful career. He has not, however, explained what he believes the campaign was related to, or who the interested parties might have been.
Kevin Spacey is a two-time Oscar winner for his work in "American Beauty" and "The Usual Suspects." He has starred in films such as "Seven," "L.A. Confidential," "Baby Driver," and also in the Netflix series "House of Cards."
