Yesterday, Aliaksandr Andrushkevich announced a dry hunger strike near the US Embassy in Vilnius and demands that the US administration, in negotiations with Aliaksandr Lukashenka, influences the fate of Stsiapan Latypau.
On Thursday, from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM, he stood in a solitary picket, and in accordance with Lithuanian law, stopped the picket after 10:00 PM, but not the dry hunger strike.
Today at 8:00 AM, he planned to return and continue the picket, wrote blogger Dzmitry Kazlou (Grey Cat) on his Facebook page.
Yesterday it became known that Stsiapan Latypau tried to commit suicide for the third time in the penal colony.
In July 2025, the political prisoner, resident of "Changes Square," Stsiapan Latypau, was transferred from Mogilev prison No. 4 to penal colony No. 22 "Volchy Nory," where he was immediately placed in a punishment cell (ShIZA), and then in a cell-type room (PKT).
There, Stsiapan cut his veins, and he was stitched up there. It is known that during his detention in prison, the political prisoner requested solitary confinement.
In the PKT, the political prisoner was held in poor conditions: there was not even a power outlet in the cell, and boiling water was provided twice a day. Approximately in September 2025, Stsiapan was again transferred to prison.
Stsiapan himself reportedly said that he saw no meaning in life and would not endure another term under prison regime.
Stsiapan Latypau was detained in September 2020 near his house in "Changes Square." On August 16, 2021, he was sentenced to eight years and six months of imprisonment under a strict regime. The political prisoner pleaded not guilty on any charges in court.
