The decision was formalized by a resolution signed by Prime Minister Aliaksandr Turchyn. This was done as part of the implementation of Lukashenka's instruction after his official visit to the DPRK at the end of March 2026.
During that visit, the expansion of cooperation between the countries was discussed, including the opening of a Belarusian diplomatic mission in Pyongyang and the possibility of simplifying travel between the countries.
At the same time, it is noted that the North Korean embassy in Minsk is already operational, and the parties have signed an agreement on friendship and cooperation.
