Guest killed a friend at the dacha and slept next to the body for a day
In late October 2025, a 43-year-old resident of Novopolotsk arrived in Verkhnedvinsk district to visit a 42-year-old acquaintance. There, they drank together for several days, the Investigative Committee (SK) reports.

Already in November, during another drinking party, the men had an argument. The guest grabbed a knife and struck the homeowner several times. After that, he continued drinking and simply went to sleep.
The next day, the man noticed that his friend was not breathing. He covered the body with a blanket and remained in the house for about another day, then left for home.
While he was in the same room with the deceased, the victim's mother called him — the killer calmed her down and persuaded her not to come.
A few days later, the woman, who had been unable to contact her son, came to his place herself and found him dead.
Investigators who arrived at the scene saw scattered belongings and wounds on the deceased's body, which indicated that there had been a fight. Experts counted at least twelve blows, some of which were inflicted with a knife.
The suspect was found and detained. A knife was found among his belongings, and expertise confirmed it was the blood of the murdered friend.
During interrogation, the man justified himself, saying he didn't want to kill the acquaintance and that vodka was to blame for everything.
