John Coale Promised to Pay Special Attention to the Fate of One of the Political Prisoners
Former political prisoner Siarhei Sparysh, in one of his videos on the social network X, appealed to US President's Special Representative John Coale, responsible for communication with Lukashenka regarding the release of political prisoners, asking him to pay special attention to the fate of the 19-year-old political prisoner Aliaksandra Pulinovich. And received a public response.
John Coale reposted Siarhei Sparysh's appeal to his page and wrote:
“During my next trip to Belarus I will mention your friend.”
Aliaksandra Pulinovich is a Belarusian political prisoner, detained on January 12, 2024, in the so-called "Black Nightingales" case. She was born on February 12, 2007, and was a minor at the time of her detention.
She was accused of property damage, illegal actions with explosives, and preparing a terrorist act. According to the verdict issued in 2025, the girl was sentenced to 10 years and 3 months of imprisonment in a maximum-security penal colony.
The case was widely reported in a propaganda film on the state TV channel ONT titled "Children in the Crosshairs. Recruited by the Enemy." It claimed that a group of Belarusian teenagers allegedly cooperated with Ukrainian special services and prepared sabotage. According to state media, several young people formed an anarchist group "Black Nightingales," allegedly coordinated by Ukrainian citizen Maryia Misiuk.
Among those detained in this case were college students from various cities in Belarus. The investigation claimed that they gathered in Baranavichy and allegedly planned to produce explosives to attack a police or prosecutor's office building.
After the trial, Aliaksandra Pulinovich, along with other defendants in the case, was included in the Belarusian list of individuals whom the authorities consider involved in extremist activities, as well as in the so-called "KGB terrorist list." This means that money transfers are prohibited for her during her imprisonment.
Initially, the girl was held in pre-trial detention center No. 7 in Brest, and now she is serving her sentence in penal colony No. 4 in Homiel.
