Sabalenka eliminated from Rome tournament, barely having started playing
At the WTA 1000 tournament in Rome, Belarusian tennis player Aryna Sabalenka was unexpectedly eliminated already at the 1/16 final stage. The world's number one player lost to Romanian Sorana Cîrstea in three sets — 6:2, 3:6, 5:7.

The match initially went very well for Sabalenka: she won the first set quickly and with a significant lead. But in the second set, her game deteriorated — errors appeared on her serve, which her opponent capitalized on.
In the decisive set, the struggle was even, but at 2:2, Sabalenka lost her serve. Later, she needed a medical timeout, which may indicate health problems or a possible injury.
Despite this, the Belarusian managed to get back into the match and level the score at 5:5. However, in the end, Cîrstea proved stronger and secured the victory.
For the Romanian tennis player, who currently holds the 27th place in the WTA ranking, this is, perhaps, one of the most important victories of the season. In the 1/8 finals, she will face the world's 13th-ranked player, Czech Linda Nosková. Sabalenka, meanwhile, will rest and possibly receive treatment.
