8 More Countries Join New European Union Sanctions Package Against Russia and Belarus
Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, North Macedonia, Ukraine, and Montenegro have joined the sanctions. All of them are aligning their policies with EU decisions regarding Belarus, the European Council reported .

This refers to the 20th package of sanctions, adopted at the end of April 2026. At the same time, the European Union extended the restrictions against Belarus until at least the end of February 2027.
In the new sanctions package, the Belarusian Oil Company (BNC) fell under restrictions. The EU stated that the company is linked to the Belarusian authorities, as its management is appointed by Alexander Lukashenka.
Sanctions were also imposed against the company Volat-Sanjiang, which produces wheeled chassis for military equipment, including for multiple rocket launcher systems. The Chinese company China Space Sanjiang Group, which cooperates with the Belarusian military-industrial complex, also fell under the restrictions.
A separate point of the sanctions concerns the Belarusian digital ruble. The European Union has prohibited its citizens and companies from conducting operations with this system, even though it has not yet been fully launched.
Now, European organizations, businesses, and individuals are prohibited from interacting with platforms and structures related to transactions in the Belarusian digital ruble.
