US Congress doubts new funding for Ukraine and expects action from Europe
Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee Brian Mast stated that Congress is unlikely to approve a new major financial aid package for Ukraine, writes RBC-Ukraine, citing Mast's interview.

"I do not believe that you will see a new American aid package for Ukraine — for $6 billion, $60 billion, or any other amount," Mast stated.
According to the Republican congressman, Russia's war against Ukraine is happening "in Europe's backyard," so it is European states that should take greater responsibility for supporting Kyiv.
Mast also stated that President Trump's administration adheres to a "balanced" approach regarding the war in Ukraine.
At the same time, Washington, according to him, will continue to support Kyiv through the transfer of armaments, intelligence data, and sanctions pressure on Russia.
"We are ready to be mediators of peace. Europe must defend its own backyard," Mast said.
Simultaneously, the American congressman supported the idea of new sanctions against Russia. However, he emphasized that restrictions should not harm US allies more than Russia itself.
"Sanctions should inflict more damage on our enemies and bring more benefit to us and our allies," Mast stressed.
