Thailand's Tourism Minister stated that the country's cabinet has decided to cancel the 60-day visa-free entry for foreign tourists. This was reported by the Thai newspaper Khaosod.
It is reported that the new criteria will now be reviewed by the Visa Policy Committee. For each country, an "appropriate visa type will be determined, taking into account security and economic considerations."
Previously, Thailand's Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that "60 days is perhaps too long, and some people who are not genuine tourists are using the visa-free regime for illegal purposes."
