In her speech, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya emphasized that Ukraine's victory is crucial for the future of Belarus as well. She noted that the main contribution of a free Belarus to Ukraine's future security is the guarantee that more than a thousand kilometers of the common border will be safe:
"For me, it's not a question of whether Ukraine will win. The only question is when. And this depends on how much we do to bring this moment closer. Ukraine is fighting for itself and for all peoples who have lived too long in the shadow of empire. It is fighting for the right to live in peace. And the fate of my country, Belarus, also depends on Ukraine's success.
I believe that Ukraine's victory will open the way to a free Belarus.
I have seen the enormous price that Ukraine has paid and continues to pay every day for our common future.
Therefore, the main thing that Belarus can and must give to Ukraine in the future is security. A guarantee that more than a thousand kilometers of the common border will be safe. That Belarus will never again become a springboard for aggression. That Russian tanks will never again pass through Belarus to Chernihiv, Zhytomyr, Rivne, or Kyiv.
I am convinced: when Belarus becomes free, our cities and regions on both sides of the border will restore partnership and cooperation. And it is no longer a question of whether this will happen. The only question is when."
