Donald Trump personally sent CIA Director John Ratcliffe to Moscow, writes The Wall Street Journal, citing American officials.
As the newspaper notes, Ratcliffe's diplomatic mission to Russia was "so delicate" that even some high-ranking White House staff were not aware of it in advance.
According to some European officials, the secret trip of the CIA chief to Moscow, where he arrived from Latvia aboard a US C-17 military transport plane, forced them to hastily search for information as soon as news of the visit emerged.
