On September 1, the period of simplified procedure for checking personal mobility devices ended. Now, general control rules apply to electric scooters, segways, unicycles, gyroscooters, and other similar devices, CTV channel reported .

Owners of devices capable of developing speeds over 25 km/h on the road had to undergo a compliance check. If the technical characteristics did not meet the requirements for personal mobility devices, such devices were classified as mopeds or motorcycles.
Over the year, about 10 thousand citizens and legal entities applied to testing laboratories. Approximately 5 thousand devices were subsequently recognized as mopeds or motorcycles, and just over a thousand were classified as personal mobility devices.
For equipment recognized as a moped or motorcycle, state registration with the State Traffic Inspectorate is required. Such registration is not needed for personal mobility devices.
In the last days before the completion of the simplified procedure, there was a large influx of people in the laboratories. While in spring the country conducted an average of 20-30 tests per day, in the last week of August their number increased to approximately 200 per day.
From September 1, owners of powerful mobility devices that have not passed the necessary inspection and are capable of exceeding 25 km/h are prohibited from using them on roads.
