Alarm buttons are planned to be installed in emergency medical service vehicles in Belarus to enhance the safety of medics and patients. This was reported by Alexander Shepelev, head of the Department of Security of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus.
According to him, all public transport in Minsk is already equipped with such buttons and video surveillance systems. When an alarm signal is received, employees of the Department of Security can immediately see what is happening in the cabin and, if necessary, react promptly.
A similar system is planned to be implemented in emergency medical services. Shepelev recalled a recent incident in Barysaŭ, when a patient being transported to the hospital inflicted a penetrating stab wound on a paramedic.
It is expected that the Ministry of Internal Affairs, together with the Ministry of Health, will soon work on the issue of installing alarm buttons in ambulances.
