Ukraine opened a case over the transfer of a military aviation simulator program to Belarus

In Ukraine, a criminal case has been initiated against a citizen of the country, who is suspected of illegally transferring software for a military aviation simulator to Belarus, writes "Radio Svaboda".

According to information from "Radio Svaboda", the Ukrainian citizen, bypassing sanctions restrictions and violating the rules for international transfer of dual-use goods and technologies, transferred a program for the stationary complex simulator "KTS-21M" to Belarusian partners. This simulator is used for training pilots of MiG-29 military aircraft.

Several Ukrainian citizens may be involved in the case. One of them, according to the source, works in Belarus at CJSC "Group of Production Technologies and Aviation Engineering "Aeromash", located in Machulishchy near Minsk.

The enterprise is engaged in the development, production, repair, and modernization of aviation equipment, as well as the creation and maintenance of aviation simulators. Pilots of MiG-29 combat aircraft are trained using the "KTS-21M" system.

Ukrainian investigators believe that the transfer of the software took place no later than June 2025 via one of the messengers. For the transferred information, the suspect allegedly received 1000 dollars.

Currently, the court has restricted his freedom with so-called personal obligations — a measure similar to a recognizance not to leave.

The investigation claims that the Ukrainian citizen transferred the technology to his former colleague from the Institute of Automated Systems of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. Previously, the suspect worked as a designer of electronic aviation simulators. He participated in the development of complexes for training crews of Mi-8 and Mi-24 military helicopters, MiG-29 fighters, and Il-76 transport aircraft.

During searches, mobile phones and various electronic storage devices were confiscated from the suspect. Investigators must ascertain exactly which technologies were transferred to Belarus and who else might have been involved in this scheme.

The case is significant in the context of Belarus's military cooperation with Russia. Following the start of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Belarusian authorities allowed Russia to use Belarusian military infrastructure and airspace. In addition, Belarusian enterprises participate in fulfilling Russian military orders.
