An explosion occurred near Augsburg's main train station in Germany on the morning of September 2. Police reported that an unknown object exploded, writes Bild.
As a result of the incident, a 17-year-old girl and an 18-year-old boy sustained minor injuries. According to local media, both are Ukrainian citizens.
According to Bild, the explosion may have been caused by a hand grenade near a jewelry store next to the station entrance. The building's facade sustained minor damage. Police are investigating a possible connection between the incident and organized crime and believe that the station itself was likely not the target.
After the explosion, the station was temporarily completely closed, and train traffic was halted because a suspicious object was found nearby. It was later determined that it posed no danger.
The incident led to delays for regional and long-distance trains, including high-speed ICE trains. Significant traffic problems also arose in Augsburg and its surrounding areas during the police operation.
