The leader of North Korea suffers from "extreme obesity" and has a high risk of cardiovascular diseases, reports AFP, citing South Korean intelligence.
South Korean Member of Parliament Yoon Kun Young reported on the latest assessment of Kim Jong Un's health condition.
«His health condition is classified as extreme obesity, with a weight exceeding 140 kilograms,» — he reported, citing the National Intelligence Service.
According to intelligence, Kim has a high risk of developing cardiovascular diseases. However, he does not have noticeable difficulties with physical activity and, in particular, can run up stairs.
«Given the constant monitoring by his personal medical team, it is believed that there are no health problems,» — the MP added.
The health condition of the DPRK leader is closely monitored abroad: his sudden death could raise questions about the transfer of power and stability in the nuclear-armed country.
Rumors about Kim Jong Un's serious illness already emerged in 2020, when he missed the celebrations for his grandfather Kim Il Sung's birthday and disappeared from the public space for almost 20 days.
The father and grandfather of the North Korean leader were also overweight and smoked heavily. Both died of heart attacks.
