A Russian drone struck the Southern Bridge in Kyiv while a metro train was crossing it.

The drone hit the fence near the roadway, after which a fire started on the bridge.
The explosion occurred directly as a metro train was moving across the bridge span. Passengers reportedly heard a powerful explosion and saw a bright flash while crossing the bridge. Immediately afterwards, smoke appeared in the carriages, and ash flew through the ventilation system.
The driver accelerated the train, reached the right bank, and disembarked the passengers. There were no casualties. According to Ukrainian media, windows were broken in one of the carriages.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko clarified that two drones struck near the supporting part of the Southern Bridge. Metro and ground public transport traffic across it has been suspended.
This is the second strike on the Southern Bridge in a few days: on September 29, fragments of a Russian drone fell on it, after which traffic was temporarily restricted.
Specialists inspected the condition of the structure after the hits and concluded that it withstood the impact.
