Ryzhankou revealed the condition under which Lukashenka agrees to meet with Trump
Belarus is considering the possibility of a meeting between Alexander Lukashenka and US President Donald Trump in a practical sense. This was stated by Maxim Ryzhankou, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, in an interview with the Russian agency RIA "Novosti".

According to Maxim Ryzhankou, contacts between Minsk and Washington are already taking place. Special messages were conveyed to Lukashenka through Trump's envoys, and responses were received; the politicians also had several telephone conversations.
Ryzhankou noted that for a personal meeting, it is necessary to prepare a substantive agenda and concrete agreements in advance, which the parties could then implement. According to him, the meeting should not take place just for the sake of conversation – it must "mature."
At the same time, Belarus, as the minister stated, is open to such a meeting and is making significant efforts to make it happen. However, Minsk is not ready to go into it at any cost and does not intend to take the position of a petitioner.
Ryzhankou did not rule out that a meeting between Lukashenka and Trump could take place in the near future, but he did not name any possible dates or venues.
He also recalled that Trump had previously invited Lukashenka to participate in a meeting of the Council of Peace in the USA. However, according to Ryzhankou, technical problems, including those related to sanctions restrictions and flight possibilities, prevented the trip.
Belarus is also interested in developing trade, economic, and financial ties with the United States. Among the issues of interest to the American side, Ryzhankou named illegal migration, cross-border crime, illicit arms and drug trafficking, and human trafficking.
At the same time, the Foreign Minister emphasized that Minsk is not going to develop relations with Washington at the expense of its ties with Russia and China.
Ryzhankou also touched upon the problem of Belarusian political prisoners. He stated that the American side's interest in the release of individuals detained for political reasons in Belarus is due to the fact that they previously received support from the West, counting on its assistance and guarantees if needed. Therefore, now, he suggested, Western countries need to resolve this issue to save face.
Ryzhankou said that if the American and European sides are ready to deal with released people abroad, Belarus has no objection to this. He also stated that prisoners were one of the irritants in relations between Belarus and the West, but now this problem is allegedly gradually losing its acuteness. Some people, he suggested, are being released after serving their appointed terms, and this allegedly allows Western politicians to more easily maintain their image and simultaneously develop contacts with Belarus.
