Poland stated it would not suspend military aid to Ukraine over UPA veneration situation
The Polish Ministry of Defense denied reports about the suspension of a large consignment of military aid to Ukraine due to the Lviv Regional Council's decision to declare 2027 the Year of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA). The Polish publication Fakt reported on the denial on October 22.

Earlier, the Ukrainian publication "European Pravda" reported on the alleged suspension of supplies, citing an anonymous source in the Ukrainian government. However, Janusz Sejmej, spokesperson for the Polish Ministry of Defense, stated that this information does not correspond to reality.
On October 20, the Lviv Regional Council decided to declare 2027 the Year of the UPA, as well as the leaders of this formation, Roman Shukhevych and Oleh Olzhych. This provoked sharp criticism from Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz.
Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski signed a request to ban Sviatoslav Sharament, a deputy of the Lviv Regional Council who initiated this resolution, from entering the Schengen area for five years.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine also criticized the decision of the Lviv Regional Council, stating that it does not contribute to Ukrainian-Polish dialogue. Kyiv noted that the Lviv deputies adopted the resolution without consulting diplomats.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland Marcin Bosacki reported that representatives of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's team assured the Polish side that the resolution would not come into force. According to him, information about the corresponding decision has already been removed from the Lviv Regional Council's website.
