Kiryl Maskevich became a two-time world champion in Greco-Roman wrestling
The Belarusian wrestler won gold in the 97 kg weight category at the World Championship in Astana. In the final on October 26, he defeated Russian Artur Sargsyan with a score of 7:1.

The 28-year-old native of Barysaw took revenge for his defeat at this year's European Championship: then Sargsyan was stronger in the bronze medal match.
This is Maskevich's second world champion title, but it's the first time he won gold directly at the competition. In 2021, the Belarusian lost the final to Zurab Datunashvili from Serbia. Later, his opponent was disqualified for violating anti-doping rules, and the gold medal went to Maskevich.
"Today I stood on the highest step of the podium for the first time," the athlete said after the victory. Last year, at the World Championship in Zagreb, he won bronze.
