The prosecution approved the bill of indictment on Pussy Riot case, says the public prosecutor’s office of Moscow. All the materials on the case were passed to court, Lenta.ru reports.
Three members of punk-rock band Pussy Riot are accused of hooliganism as they performed in the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour saying “Holy Mother, Blessed Virgin, chase Putin out!” in February, 2012.
Maria Alyokhina and Nadezhda Tolokonnikova were held by the police in March. Ekaterina Samutsevitch surrendered herself. They remain incarcerated in remand prison hitherto. The court of Moscow confirmed the lawfulness of extending arrest terms for the band members. Previously there were rumors arrested females would be released.
The court also reduced the term of case study for Pussy Riot musicians: they had to read their case until July 9. The lawyers of the band members were insisting on extending the term of studying the case until September 1. The women managed to read 2–3 volumes of their case out of total 7.
The case of Pussy Riot is very controversial as Russian authorities were accused of unmotivated cruelty towards the band.
