Three Belarusians arrested in Spain, suspected of car theft. They had a peculiar scheme
In the Spanish province of Alicante, in the town of La Nucía near Valencia, three Belarusian citizens aged about 44-45 were arrested. They are suspected of car theft, document forgery, and participation in an organized criminal group. This was reported by the local publication Okdiario, writes the website "Belarus and the World".

Police began an investigation after receiving information about a gang that specialized in stealing cars of a specific brand within the province. It was found that the cars were dismantled somewhere in the same region, and their parts were installed into so-called "drowned cars" — vehicles of the same model that had been damaged by floods after Hurricane Dana in 2024. After this, the resulting "hybrids" were sold as legal cars on the used car market in other countries.

When investigators identified three suspects, they organized covert surveillance on them. This led to a house in the villa area of La Nucía, where a workshop was equipped.
It turned out that the scheme was as follows: criminals bought "drowned" mid-range and premium-class cars from private individuals for cash, then found the same model on the street, stole it, "warmed it up" for some time in an isolated location, and then brought it to the house and completely dismantled it. Parts from the stolen car were transferred to the chassis of the purchased "drowned" vehicle, after which the finished car was put on the legal market.

During the conducted searches, two recently stolen expensive cars were found: one had already been fitted with new German license plates, while the other was still being dismantled. The cars of the three suspects themselves were also confiscated — it turned out that they were also "drowned cars" and contained illegal parts.
In the workshop, police found equipment for car theft: devices for cloning keys, systems for tracking cars planned for theft, complexes for reprogramming electronic control units, and a large number of keys and documents for vehicles of the brands involved in the case.
The detainees were brought to court, where they were remanded in custody. The investigation continues, as a large volume of documents needs to be analyzed, and further arrests are not ruled out.
