"I thought we were very close to concluding an agreement with Russia. I thought we were very close to concluding an agreement with Ukraine. In fact, with the exception of President Zelensky himself, his people like the draft agreement," the US President said on Thursday, answering questions from reporters at the White House.
His comments came after White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated that the President is "very disappointed with both sides of this war" and "tired of meetings for meetings' sake."
"He doesn't want more talks. He wants action," Leavitt said on Thursday.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky earlier presented the White House with a new version of the peace plan, refined after discussions with Kyiv's key European partners.
The 20-point plan is a "fundamental document" for ending the war, Zelensky stated.
