Certification at the National Bank will now only be able to be passed by politically loyal bankers who don't 'like' where they shouldn't
The National Bank has decided that improper likes and participation in protests harm business reputation.

The National Bank will now take into account the political loyalty of bankers when conducting certification. The regulator has introduced changes to the instruction on the procedure for assessing compliance with qualification requirements and business reputation requirements.
Now, not only professional matters will harm business reputation. Certification will likely not be passed by those who participated in protests or even wrote some "improper" comments online. According to the new resolution, business reputation is discredited by:
-
participation in unauthorized mass events, violation of the established procedure for holding assemblies, rallies, street marches, demonstrations, pickets, other mass events, as well as public calls for the organization or holding of such events in violation of the established procedure for their organization or holding;
-
participation in any activity aimed at discrediting the Republic of Belarus, state authorities and administration (including personal participation, mediation or cooperation through the provision of services, registration in extremist formations, dissemination of information products included in the republican list of extremist materials, as well as the manufacture, publication, storage or transportation for the purpose of disseminating such information products).
In Belarus, extremist materials include news and texts from independent media. This means that bankers now risk losing their certifications simply for ordinary reposts or likes online. Not to mention any other political activity.
