Russian diplomat found dead in Cyprus after Baumgertner's disappearance
A high-ranking employee of the Russian diplomatic mission in Cyprus died under mysterious circumstances. The tragedy occurred the day after the disappearance of former Uralkali head Vladislav Baumgertner became known, reports Cyprus Mail.

The body of diplomat Panov was found in his office. It is reported that the man left a suicide note, but its content is kept secret.
The Russian Embassy refused to allow local police full access to the crime scene and to conduct investigative actions on the territory of the diplomatic mission, citing diplomatic immunity.
The day before, the disappearance of Baumgertner became known — 56-year-old Russian businessman Vladislav Baumgertner stopped making contact on January 7. The last time his mobile phone signal was recorded was in the area of Pisouri village. A large-scale search operation involving a helicopter, drones, and volunteers is currently underway there.
Vladislav Baumgertner gained worldwide fame in 2013 during the potash war between Russia and Belarus. He was detained in Minsk after a meeting with the Prime Minister of Belarus. After his release and the sale of Uralkali assets, the businessman moved to Cyprus.
