Worked with the KGB through another Belarusian and already served in the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. New details in the case of Inna Kardash
At the time of her arrest, Inna Kardash was working at the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. «Svaboda» learned new details from the case materials of Belarusian Inna Kardash in Ukraine.

Detained as a military servicewoman
As an informed source in law enforcement agencies told «Svaboda,» Inna Kardash was detained on January 21. Previously, by court decision, she was arrested until March 20 inclusive.
If the pre-trial investigation is not completed by this time, the court must extend her detention every two months. A similar decision is required for the duration of the court proceedings.
The case materials note that Inna Kardash has a higher education and was in a registered marriage. At the time of her arrest, she was a servicewoman with the rank of soldier (in Ukraine, after military reform, «soldier» is one of the ranks in the enlisted personnel. — RS).
As it turned out, in November 2025, Inna Kardash was hired by the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
The case against her was opened last year
The case against Inna Kardash was opened on July 16, 2025. By that time, investigators were already conducting unannounced surveillance on her, and suspicion of espionage on behalf of the State Security Committee of Belarus was handed over only on the day of her detention — this year, January 21.
At the court, when the prosecutor's petition for arrest was considered, the detainee and her lawyer stated the groundlessness of the suspicions and the absence of risks that she would hide from the investigation or otherwise obstruct it. But the court supported the prosecution's position.
The case of Inna Kardash is being investigated by the Main Investigative Directorate of the Security Service of Ukraine.
Received last instructions from the KGB in Hungary
According to the investigation materials, Inna Kardash cooperated with the KGB since 2019.
Investigators claim that she carried out her contacts with the KGB through a citizen of Belarus who «knowingly for her carried out confidential cooperation with the special services of Belarus.»
This Belarusian, with whom she spoke no later than September 6, 2025, suggested she travel to Budapest (Hungary) to receive the necessary instructions there.
She arrived in Budapest on September 16, bought a new mobile phone there, and allegedly installed an «application for encrypted confidential conversations.» Then she called the Belarusian, who then connected a Belarusian KGB officer to their conversation.
During this meeting, Kardash allegedly received the task to get a job at the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War.
What information she transferred to the KGB
As follows from the case materials, she was hired by the headquarters already in November. The documents state that at least from November 21 to December 19, she «systematically collected official information» — she photographed documents and recorded conversations of other headquarters employees, the recordings of which she then transmitted to Belarus.
The SBU, when announcing the detention of Inna Kardash, stated that information with the «Secret» classification was intentionally planted for her, which was actually beneficial and did not have secret status.
