Lukashenka stated that Belarusians and Lithuanians have had centuries of friendly relations, based on historical ties
Aliaksandr Lukashenka congratulated the people of Lithuania on the Day of Restoration of the State, his press service reports.

"For centuries, we have had friendly relations, based on historical ties, common spiritual values, and mutual cultural enrichment. And today, despite the existing difficulties and trials, Belarusians have retained sincere sympathies for Lithuanians," the congratulation states.
"I am convinced that in the conditions of a difficult international situation, neither short-sighted politicians nor their external advisors, whose recommendations regarding Belarus have never coincided with the true interests of the Lithuanian people, will be able to impose their view of our neighborhood on the residents of Lithuania," the politician emphasized.
Lukashenka, traditionally congratulating "unfriendly states" on national holidays, addresses the people, but not the leadership, calling them short-sighted.
