The trust of a Belarusian long-haul truck driver in a satellite navigation system led to a prolonged operation to evacuate his truck in the Austrian city of Bad Ischl. This was reported by the local rescue service, writes the website "Belarus and the World".

The incident occurred on February 20. Following the navigator's prompts, the driver turned from road B145 onto Mühlenweg street, and from there onto Brandebergweg street. Both are very steep, narrow, and winding. Weather conditions and snow added to the difficulties.
The first difficulties arose at the railway crossing: the truck veered off the road surface. However, the driver managed to get the vehicle across the tracks. Further on, though, it became very difficult. While maneuvering, the truck eventually got stuck on the snowy roadside.

Called rescuers used a winch to return the truck to the asphalt. Afterwards, an experienced emergency service employee had to drive the vehicle in reverse for a long distance — all the way to the lime factory.
For this, the railway crossing was covered with wooden planks, restricting traffic on the line.
Only after a little more than three hours was the truck driver able to continue his journey.
