Shunevich: The sole purpose of allowing hunting bears and lynxes is to give hunters more freedom in choosing trophies
The head of the Belarusian Society of Hunters and Fishermen, former Minister of Internal Affairs Ihar Shunevich gave an interview to Times.by, in which he reported what the sole purpose was for the society and for him personally when they lobbied for the permission to hunt Red Book bears and lynxes.

According to Shunevich, it was the Belarusian Society of Hunters and Fishermen that achieved the status of bears and lynxes becoming hunting species.
But only with one goal: to give hunters more freedom in choosing their quarry or trophy.
This was done, as Shunevich claims, only after it became clear that the populations of these animals were not threatened.
«And restrictions, in my opinion, any unfounded ones, they are inappropriate here, because they play a deterrent role in the development of the hunting industry, which today has shrunk like shagreen leather,» — believes the head of the organization. — «Now there are problems with weapons, ammunition, shops are closing. And that's bad. We will not get away from this social phenomenon, hunting. And I am obliged to develop it. This is my task today.»
At the same time, he also has good news — more and more women are showing interest in hunting, and not just to spend time in nature:
«To my fortune and great joy, women are coming into hunting today,» — says Shunevich. — «We create conditions for this in the form of various benefits, in the form of a window of opportunities for the number of hunts, types of hunts. We accompany these processes. And trophy hunters are appearing who don't just come to hunt — they want to get good trophies.»
