Brest border guards have stopped two attempts to import drugs into Belarus over the past two weeks, reports the press service of the State Border Committee.

The first incident occurred on March 2 at the Brest checkpoint. On the Poznań — Minsk bus, with the help of a service dog, attention was drawn to a citizen of Belarus, in whose luggage a substance of plant origin was found. An examination showed it was hashish.
A resident of Molodechno, who previously had a criminal record for hooliganism, was hiding the drug in cans of preserved fruit. Its total weight was about 260 grams.
Criminal cases were initiated against the man for illegal cross-border movement of drugs and their circulation. He could face up to 15 years in prison.
The second incident occurred on March 15. A resident of Vitebsk, who was traveling by bus "Warsaw — Vitebsk", tried to import marijuana. He was detained and placed in a temporary detention facility. Investigative actions are currently being conducted concerning him.
