Alexander Lukashenka's plumpness has often been discussed in recent years. He could not have failed to notice these conversations.
When Lukashenka commented on his decision to cap prices during his annual address in 2023, he mentioned how he was criticized that there would be nothing to eat.
«Who lost weight? Look at me — you'll see», — the corpulent politician addressed those present.
And when they started applauding, he reacted: «Why are you applauding? That I'm not losing weight? I will take care of this».

Notably, Trump's special envoy John Kohle recounted how Lukashenka, during meetings with him, inquired about American weight loss medications. The topic first came up during Kohle's visit in April 2025. Kohle told Lukashenka how he lost weight using Zepbound injections. And American officials decided to explore the possibility of organizing Zepbound supplies for the politician's personal needs, The Wall Street Journal wrote.
Lukashenka, apparently realizing that his weight loss would be noticed, in January stated that he is trying to lose weight and has therefore excluded chocolate and Rogachev condensed milk from his diet, and in the evenings has given up sausage and generally does not eat at night.
