Lithuanian Carriers Discuss if They Will Continue to Travel Through Belarus
Representatives of carriers said that some Lithuanian companies will continue to travel in transit through Belarus until there is a clear signal from the authorities. Others are already changing routes or even relocating their business to other countries, writes Delfi.lt.

According to carriers, the situation became more complicated after the Belarusian authorities began releasing Lithuanian trucks only after payment for parking. On average, about 6000 euros must be paid for one truck, and for many companies, this is a serious burden.
Due to risk and instability, clients are increasingly refusing the services of Lithuanian carriers and choosing Polish or Latvian companies, which are gradually taking over this market. This particularly affects routes to Central Asian countries and China, where the route through Belarus and Russia was previously used.
Although transit through these countries is formally possible and does not violate sanctions, a political and ethical question arises — whether businesses should continue to operate in this way. An alternative "southern corridor" exists, but it is significantly longer and more expensive, and clients are not ready to pay more.
Lithuanian carriers note that if there is a clear political decision, they may refuse to work with the Belarusian direction. However, as long as there is no such clarity, the situation remains uncertain.
It is also noted that part of the business is already relocating its activities to other countries, for example, to Latvia or Poland. But this is connected not only with transit problems through Belarus but also with general difficulties in the sector — taxes and labor shortages.
