The directive to limit the operation of SpaceX's Starshield satellite system, which Ukrainian military personnel use for communication and drone control, came from the White House. This was reported by Reuters, citing two American officials and a representative of a Western country familiar with the situation.

The agency found out that the Pentagon leadership received a notification about the need to slow down the provision of Starshield services to the Ukrainian military.

At the same time, a high-ranking American official told the agency that US President Donald Trump personally did not issue such an order. Reuters sources did not specify who exactly gave the order.

Starshield is SpaceX's military satellite communication system, designed for US government and defense customers. The Armed Forces of Ukraine use it to control faster drones.

Unlike the commercial Starlink system, Starshield provides specialized secure communication facilities and is under the control of the US government, which determines the terms of its use.
