Russian serviceman who shot six people in Ukraine's Kharkiv region told how it happened. A civilian was among the victims
Russian serviceman Leonid Ryzhykov, suspected of killing five Ukrainian servicemen and one civilian, was charged on October 15 in the Kharkiv region. During interrogation, the 36-year-old native of St. Petersburg pleaded guilty and stated that he repented of his actions, writes "Suspilne".

According to the investigation materials, on October 13, Ryzhykov shot an elderly man near the village of Mykhailivka. During interrogation, he explained that he was afraid the fisherman would give him away to Ukrainian servicemen.
The suspect, whose call sign was "Yula," said that the man with a fishing rod was initially about 20 meters away from him, and then began to approach. Ryzhykov claims he decided to shoot because he was afraid the fisherman would call the military and he would be detained.
According to him, after a single shot, the man fell headfirst into the water, with his legs remaining on the bank. Then the Russian serviceman searched the pockets of the deceased and pushed his body into the river.
Later, according to the investigation materials, Ryzhykov killed five servicemen of Ukraine's 72nd Separate Mechanized Brigade in the village of Mamotove.
"I committed the second murder when I had already entered the cottage. I heard a man escape. Then he started to return, and I was standing near the cottage. I didn't do anything — I just killed him. He ran out, five or ten minutes later I killed him and went back. There were three servicemen, I killed them and started climbing the hill. There a serviceman ordered: 'Stop!' I shot back and fled," the suspect said.
After that, according to his own words, he headed to Kharkiv on foot. There, on October 14, he was detained by Ukrainian law enforcement officers.
The killing of five Ukrainian servicemen occurred on October 13 around 4:00 PM. It was reported that an unknown person in civilian clothes shot servicemen of the 72nd Separate Mechanized Brigade.
The next day, 36-year-old Leonid Ryzhykov, a native of St. Petersburg, who might have been involved in the crime, was detained. He served in the second battalion of the 1009th Motorized Rifle Regiment of the Russian armed forces and had a previous criminal record in Russia.
According to the regional prosecutor's office, the investigation believes that the man could have been part of a Russian sabotage and reconnaissance group. To avoid identification, he changed into civilian clothes.
The servicemen killed in Mamotove were between 24 and 40 years old. According to "Suspilne" sources in law enforcement, they served as operators of attack drones.
