Lukashenka: Conversation with Macron lasted 1 hour 40 minutes. Talks with French representative to follow

Alexander Lukashenka spoke about some details of his conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron on May 24. Lukashenka also stated that "it wouldn't be bad if potash could be loaded in Lithuania"

Alexander Lukashenka spoke about a request from the French President:

"I said: 'Listen, we're talking with you — this is practically an open connection. What can we talk about? You didn't come to Moscow after Yerevan, you didn't come to Minsk. What is there to talk about?' He told me: 'Mr. President, can you receive my authorized representative and talk with him, and have him come and report everything to me?'"

Lukashenka, according to him, gave his kind consent: implying that if Macron himself is afraid to come, then at least let a representative come.

"Literally these days — on Monday or Tuesday (I don't remember) — this person will be here. I don't want to name him. He (Macron. — NN) gave the coordinates. And we will have a serious conversation with him (the authorized representative. — NN). He is his person, absolutely trusted, he is informed. And I will explain to him in detail all the existing problems."

Lukashenka also stated that "it wouldn't be bad if potash could be loaded in Lithuania", but if not, it's not fatal either.

"We came to a common understanding that all issues of European security and Europe must be resolved in Europe. Donald Trump should not be patting us on the head there and pushing us towards peace or anything else. We must resolve these issues. Because we live directly here. And not wait for someone to sit us at the table like dead kittens and force us to solve these problems," Lukashenka stated.

Earlier, it was reported that on February 5-6 this year, Brice Roquefeuil, Director of the Department for Continental Europe of the Main Department for Political Affairs and Security of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, visited Minsk. The visit took place at the invitation of the Belarusian side.

The French representative met with Igor Sekret, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, and also held "consultations with representatives of the Belarusian expert and analytical community".
