About 15% of Belarusian couples suffer from infertility

In Belarus, the problem of infertility affects approximately 14–16% of married couples. Tatyana Vashchilina, Head of the Reproductive Health Laboratory at the State Institution "Republican Scientific and Practical Center "Mother and Child" of the Ministry of Health, notes that the number of such cases is gradually increasing not only in our country but throughout the world, writes BelTA.

Doctors recommend not delaying examination: if pregnancy does not occur within a year of planning, it is necessary to consult specialists. The most common causes of infertility include gynecological diseases, past infections, hormonal disorders, endometriosis, adhesive processes, and decreased sperm quality in men.

To support such families, state programs are in place in Belarus. Treatment includes both traditional medical methods and assisted reproductive technologies, including in vitro fertilization (IVF). The state pays for two free attempts at IVF. Both married women and those without a husband can take advantage of this opportunity.

Recently, the government approved a new procedure for providing free IVF attempts. Now there is no need to apply to regional commissions to obtain the right to participate in the program. Additionally, specific conditions for conducting a second free attempt when frozen embryos are available have been determined, and all free programs will be carried out at the Republican Scientific and Practical Center "Mother and Child".
