What the new extreme sports center on Narachanskaya Street in Minsk will look like

Minsk skaters and riders will get their own large-scale indoor spot where they can safely perform tricks in any weather. A new sports and recreation center for extreme sports is being built on Narachanskaya Street. The complex will become a first-class all-season base where riders can train all year round. Exclusive drawings and details of the future arena's interior design were shared with Domovita.by's editorial team by specialists from the "Beldzyarzhpraekt" design institute.

Instead of injuries on steps — a safe park

The idea to build such a complex arose for an understandable reason: the city decided to create a safe alternative to street steps and parapets, where teenagers constantly risked getting injured. As Valery Varanitsky, head of the Central District administration, noted, skateboarding is popular in the capital, but riding near the Museum of the Great Patriotic War or on granite embankments often resulted in bruises for riders and damaged tiles for communal services.

The Central District of the city already has two outdoor areas — near the Palace of Children and Youth on Staravilensky Trakt and in the courtyard on Paulina Myadzyolka Street in the "Paunochny" microdistrict. But riding outdoors is only possible in good weather: in autumn and winter, the areas are drenched with rain and covered with snow. Therefore, the Capital Construction Department of Minsk City Executive Committee undertook the construction of a large indoor center where training will be possible in any season.

Strict facade, steel frame, and private parking

The site for the new complex was allocated near the "Minsk-Arena" sports complex, directly opposite the athletics arena on Narachanskaya Street. Getting here is convenient: Pobeditel Alley is nearby, from where it's easy to get by bus or car.

Outwardly, the building looks like a stylish rectangular block in modern dark tones. At its core is a durable steel frame on a monolithic reinforced concrete foundation, designed to withstand high dynamic loads from landings. The center's walls will be assembled from practical sandwich panels that perfectly retain heat.

Right by the entrance, a parking lot for 18 cars will be equipped, including two special spaces for people with disabilities.

Half-pipes, ramps, and one and a half thousand square meters for tricks

The interior of the new center will definitely appeal to skaters and riders: every detail has been thought through for comfortable riding.

The total area of the building is 2310 square meters, and a large part of this space will be occupied by a huge sports hall — almost 1640 square meters. Thanks to high ceilings and a sloped roof without unnecessary columns, the room turned out to be very spacious.

Inside, visitors will find a full-fledged indoor skate park with interesting terrain. The plans clearly show massive radius ramps and half-pipes for amplitude flights, acceleration ramps, as well as areas simulating urban environments: steps, railings, and funboxes. Now you can perform tricks and refine your balance on a proper smooth surface, forgetting about rain, snow, and slippery parapets.

In addition, the two-story built-in part of the center will house a lobby, changing rooms with showers, a medical office, a security post, and administration offices. On the ground floor of the building, a barrier-free environment is fully organized, ensuring unhindered access for people with limited mobility.

Smart climate and reliability for half a century

The project was created using digital BIM modeling technologies. Engineers pre-built an accurate digital twin of the building and tested the frame for all possible loads in a virtual environment. Automated heating, air conditioning, and ventilation units will be installed inside, so a comfortable temperature will be maintained in the hall even during severe frosts.

In addition, the building will feature an electronic card access system and a two-stage security alarm, and high-resolution anti-vandal surveillance cameras will also be installed.

Meanwhile, construction is proceeding very actively. According to standard calculations, the construction of the facility will take only 9 months. Minsk will get a truly cool and safe spot where extreme athletes can grow professionally in comfortable conditions.
